Doritos Locos Tacos are a Taco Bell food item. It was first released on October 14, 2012, in Nacho Cheese at a Taco Bell in Mankato, Minnesota. A crunchy taco with ground beef, lettuce, and real cheddar cheese, in a shell made out of Doritos chips in Nacho Cheese, Cool Ranch, or Fiery.
The Cool Ranch version was released on March 7, 2013, and the Fiery version was released on August 22, 2013. Both were discontinued on September 12, 2019 due to low popularity, leaving only the Nacho Cheese version to stay on menus now.
A Flamin' Hot Doritos Locos Taco was released on April 16, 2020, which featured a red shell with Flamin' Hot Doritos flavoring on it. It was brought back on July 22, 2021 as part of a giveaway thanks to the Milwaukee Bucks' comeback.
A Flamin' Hot Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco was released on February 10, 2022, which sold out very quickly during the promotion period.
These tacos have special cases to hold them because of the flavoring dust on the taco shell.
While all types of Doritos Locos Tacos are great, the most popular is the standard Nacho Cheese.
