Crunchy Red Strips, as seen in the Big Taste Taco

Crunchy Red Strips debuted in June 2003 in the limited-time promotional Caesar Grilled Stuft Burrito. When the promotion ended the following August, the Crunchy Red Strips were thought to be lost forever until they resurfaced in the Zesty Chicken Border Bowl in November 2004.

Debate rages over whether the Crunchy Red Strips are made of the same red tortilla stock used to produce the Volcano Taco.

They left the menu on March 11, 2021, with the re-release of the Quesalupa and the return of potatoes. They returned on July 22, 2021 with the release of Loaded Taco Fries.

Starting December 26, 2021 (Experience 1 2022) these will be replaced with tri-color Fiesta Strips which adds orange and purple to the already red strips.
